Makeup for Television

Makeup for TelevisionMakeup for films, TV, theatre & special FX

Film makeup differs from theatrical makeup technique. In film, a face must be painted to withstand the magnifying effects of a lens which may make it over 50 feet tall on a cinema screen. In a theatre, a face must have its features highlighted to help the actor convey as much expression as possible when the audience are seated far away.

The heat of television studio lights can cause shine which can be compensated for by using face powder that matches the skin tone of the subject. A makeup base should be applied ideally under the same TV lighting conditions that will be used in the studio.

This highly specialist field of makeup covers directly modelled special effects such as bruising, grazes and swollen tissue. Burns makeup, tears and deep wounds are all created by creative professionals supplied by Precious About Makeup.
